Are there other suppliers for Kevlar bands ? Lang's and Macs are out and on backorder,. 1926 TT. Allen Brintnall, SW Mo.

Go to the MTFCA home page and go to resources and then go to suppliers. There are companies that make the Kevlar bands. Nev r wear, red hook and others sell Kevlar bands. Also Snyder’s has them in their catalog. You can check out their web page and contact them.
Contact the other companies to see if they have some. It could be Lang’s and Macs buys from them and they also might be out. I hope not.

Red Hook Restorations currently are makers of NEV-R-WEAR 100% Woven Transmission Band Linings. Two other outfits were also supplying Kevlar bands, but the supplier of the woven material for all of them bowed out of the business. I believe Red Hook has found a new source. Maybe one of the other parts dealers will have a set in stock. Try Bob's, Chaffin's, Birdhaven, Smith & Jones, Antique Auto Ranch, Snyder's, etc.

This may by a good time to consider wood linings. Some of us use them and are pleased with the result. I have had them on my 12 hack and toured on mountain tours with no problems and have adjusted them once since installation 5 years ago. Just my 2 cents, Dick C.

Thanks guy's for the input. Wood seems to be available. What are the downsides to using wood? Do they crack, chatter, I have no experience with the wood band?

I have had wood bands for about a year now. I have had no problems, no chatter and have adjusted them 2 times.

I think gaslight Auto parts in Urbana still carries them got some there a few months ago

My experience has been that wooden linings are best installed with the trans. cover removed.

Asking out of curiosity and ignorance: is it possible to buy Kevlar fabric and rivet it to your old bands? Of course if you can find the right product that's always best.

The kevlar has to woven in strips or belting. I looked at several suppliers for off the shelf, but none had the correct width, thickness or weave to do the job. Can't be simply cut from a sheet, the long edge would unravel.

Over 15,000,000 Model Ts in universal use for over 25 years at least. I wonder how many millions of miles logged on cotton bands ?? Nowadays it’s Kevlar or nothing ?
