Upper Michigan is closed for the season - Covered Bridge?

I was hoping to make a trip all the way to the top of the UP in September. I called the museum in Iron Mountain and they are already closed for the year. They plan to open in 2021. I will assume all the other museums are closed as well. Next year.

We did a tour yesterday in eastern Wisconsin and discussed the Covered Bridge Tour in Indiana. We do not know the status of that tour. Sounds like Indiana schools will be closed so my guess is the Bridge tour will be too.

I feel safe driving my T with a bunch of guys and gals as long as we take precautions when we stop. Seems like no one wants to do tours this year. I have been driving by myself like Scott C. is doing on the forum. Thanks Scott.

I missed out on the Almost Tour in Minnesota. Good tour to sample beer.

David,

The last I heard, about a week ago, the Covered Bridge Tour in IN is still a "GO". I'll PM you an email address.

It wouldn't be the tour that would bother me. It's the restaurants, hotels, and any groups of people that would be attracted to the Ts when they stop that would concern me. No touring or more then one day round-trips for me until there's a safe and effective vaccine.

John,

"...the restaurants, hotels..."

Yup. Exactly. Pack food in coolers? Bring a tent?

We have been doing local tours once a month. I feel safe on these tours and we get take out food and sit on our running boards socially distanced.
I would not, however want to go on a tour on which we could not make the round trip in one day. It would be terrible to be hospitalized in some distant place where no one we know could even visit us. I don't expect to get the virus, but you never know.
I have a friend who went on a trip to see his uncle who lives in Kansas. My friend lives in California. He found that the hotels which used to have a breakfast included, do not now serve breakfast and he had to go to a drive through. Then when he got to Kansas, his uncle invited him to the VFW. When the uncle introduced him, they found out he was from California and wouldn't let him in. They also told his uncle he had to quarantine 3 weeks before he could come back.
So anyway, some of those are reasons not to attend distance tours.

It’s pretty typical for a Californian to get shunned anywhere they travel... and anybody in direct contact with a Californian should be deloused immediately! ;)

Right now, most Indiana schools are open, and the mask rule is in effect for indoors, or in a close contact group outside. Restaurants are open with indoor seating, although social distancing is mostly in force. I think public gatherings of up to 250 is allowed.

The Newport Hill Climb has been canceled, but the Covered Bridge Tour is still on, according to the website. The Covered Bridge Festival is still on also, according to the website.

The Covered Bridge Tour is still a go at this time - per Brian Jordan who is a POC for it.

The Tour is separate from the festival.

Hope to see some of you there !
