Looking for pictures of cars/trucks that served as service vehicles in the Model T ear. Specifically interested in the letter styles. Sample below. Does not have to be a Model T. Thanks

Looking for ideas on advertising and lettering, try a journal such as American Garage and Auto Dealer.

There is a trucking thread in the non topic section of this forum that shows many examples of period lettering.

Agreed! I would assume the wheel would be jacked up and the compressor ran. Photo appears to show the belt off the pulley so a bit posed.
Would be an awesome build for someone! I remember the picture being posted before. It was long enough ago I thought with the clientele on here
3 or 4 would have been built by now!

There is an air tank/reservoir at the rear of the truck. With that pumped up to pressure, he may run the belt off while travelling, only putting the belt on again when travelling back to the depot. Repeated use of the compressor with one wheel jacked up would give the diff gears a workout.
That is one heck of a service truck. It would make a great alternative build to a speedster.

The photo archive at University of Utah is massive and searchable. I put in a date range of 1917-1932 (random dates) and entered "truck" in the search category. It produced 342 high-quality photos of trucks, most with signage on them. This is a link.

This is another good photo archive.

This will have to do until I get home and can post my favorite pic of a service vehicle from the era, what I think is a converted Lincoln!

Joe, here’s a couple I borrowed from Lorin Sorenson’s book, “the Commercial Ford” The BF Goodrich truck is newer, but would make some great tribute art for the man in your life.

There they are, Joseph. I was looking for those two photos of Farrington Garage trucks on the University of Utah archive. I posted those on the old forum. Both were taken in front of the Utah state Capitol building. I lost those photos when I got a new PC. I've always loved the pickup.

This is a good thread on the subject. I hate to lift any of the photos from there and paste here since they belong to others:

I'm partial to Lincolns converted for service and there were several. There is even a section in the Model L Service Bulletins on suggestions for doing so. Many large platform chassis were converted to trucks for a second life after they depreciated enough to justify doing so.

To jk,. Your picture is of a Dodge & Graham Truck dealer show room. Graham trucks had a large retangle shaped side window behind the doors. I can't say for sure but I would think that this is a Graham truck.

The wreck is a circa 1920 Rolls Ghost. The recovery vehicle was once a Daimler car, probably a limousine that spent the Great War dragging generals about. Lots of people donated their cars to the war effort. After the war's end, many ended up in a big vehicle dump in Slough, west of London, where they were sold off, usually to businesses looking for cheap transport. I've seen photos of buses, lorries, recovery wagons, vans based on pre-war luxury car chassis. Kingston is a town on the Thames south west of London.

Fender's Towing is still in business, still in Newport, probably only a few blocks from where the photo was taken. Anyone else of the opinion the airborne T would be a candidate for restoration today?
