On the recent T towing thread many folks commented about removing key so you don't lose it. Having some near misses ourselves, my father has started affixing our keys to the firewall with a length of chain. Enough slack to allow for use. And solid enough to prevent unintentional loss or the key 'walking' away once parked. A modest suggestion for consideration.

Good idea. I keep my coil box key upside down so I won't kick it and shut off the car (again).

I use a chain here so I won't lose my filler cap (again).

Steve, great idea on reversing the key! I'm going to do that in the future so that it is easy for this fat guy with short arms to reach! Brilliant.

Steve, I'd be a little worried that the cam gear could eat that inside chain.

I found my key missing after we trailered it. They can shake out. However I was lucky to spot it in the grass where we unloaded it.

I simply turn my key to MAG for short trips in a trailer. It won’t rattle out and I won’t lose many of the netos in Magneto. For longer trailering I remove it.

I have done the chain thing with my gas cap. Brass chain and brazing rod bent into a bar with loop in it.

Steve, I also use the key on my 1915 touring upside down. I have a size 14 shoes and would always kick the key off at stoplights and I have crank start only. Since I started using the key upside down I have had no problems. bobt
