Facing rode

I made a new fixture for more accurate machining rods face.

Allan, I am trying facing indexing on the rod bolt holes. More work but I think more accurate.

Dean, I presume your fixture will allow you to perform the same machining on the rod. I would be interested to know how the two match up after separate operations. A very handy old time garage owner I had the pleasure of finding some T bits for made a fixture to hold an assembled rod to a faceplate in his lathe. He'd bore the rod and chamfer/face one side in one setting, then turn the rod to machine the width and the second chamfer. My lathe is not big enough to swing a rod, or I would have a go at it.

Allan, The rod and cap mate up perfectly . I set my jig for 1.490 because if the rod bolt is not perfectly perpendicular to the mating surface of the rod and cap it changes the thrust thickness. Ford specks are 1.480-1.490
