Any members or car effected by the CA fires?

I almost hate to ask, but I know some areas were overrun very quickly giingn folks little to no time to get out. I do know the Swanton Pacific 19" gauge railroad was decimated by the fires. This railroad was built from the 1915 Overfair Railway at the Pan-Pacfic Exposition; it's a tragic historic loss. But I haven't heard about any club members being effected yet. And the fires are ongoing, with lighting storms predicted for the area later tonight and tomorrow.

I just got an email from Condon & Skelly telling me that if my garage is threatened by a wildfire, they will cover up to $250 of cost to move & store my car in a safer location.
Interesting--they probably figure that's cheaper for them than paying for a destroyed car.

I know of several members of the Redwood Empire Model T Club that were evacuated. All of them were able to move their cars to safety. As of today I have not heard of a club member losing their home or a car. Way different than the Tubbs fire in 2017 when several homes and cars were lost.

Not Model T’s but an older couple who were classic car era collectors among other things lost almost all of their Corvette collection of 8 cars. Their home and out buildings were burned up. They were OK but everything they had was gone. They had collected all sorts of car items for years.
That was on Fox News last week I believe.

I tried to do some Model A insurance business with J C Taylor and they will do nothing until clearance is given by somebody. She did take my name and tel. number and said they will call.

I think it was on Facebook where I saw this and it kind of sounds like the Corvette collector mentioned in an earlier post, but on Facebook was posted a picture of the inside of a large metallic building with a man and the smoldering remains of three of his cars, all 30ish Chevys, if I remember correctly. In adition, he had lost five Corvettes, if I remember correctly, and a 70 Camaro that his wife had owned since new.

I have not heard of any early cars lost in my area. But the damage to the Swanton Pacific RR was tragic. The volunteers have worked so hard over the years to keep that historic RR operating, it must have just been devastating for them. Fortunately it takes a lot to kill a locomotive and i’m sure there eager to start rebuilding.
I’m sure at some point they will welcome any help.

Santa Cruz, Ca

I’ve included some photos i took the last time i was there, and one that was posted after the fire.
