My buddy and I rebuilt the engine on my 22 roadster. It seems to have great power and is running perfect. The only issue I have is too many free starts- it literally happens almost every time. Has anyone else had this problem and any suggestions on how to fix it is much appreciated.

!!? How, exactly, is this a problem ?? Wish mine would do that. I only get about 10%.

Nothing wrong with that. Saves battery, or arm.

Let your motor idle down before turning off the ignition.

If you're serious, and want to stop the free starts, simply turn the key to MAG instead of BATT.

I'm told this requires pulling the spark lever down a couple of notches, but I have no experience here.

I agree with Rich Bingham. I wish that I had your problem. I have had three free starts in the last seven years.

The problem will go away if you get the starter motor engaged before you switch the ignition on.

My three T make them on about 9/10 of the starts.

My guess is that you’re switching the ignition off with the engine at a high rpm.

I can make my car give a free start most of the time by doing that. If I idle it down before switching it off, it hardly ever free starts. I suppose it has to do with how much un-burned fuel vapor there is in the cylinder.

I close throttle and timing before I turn off switch. I get lots of free starts with the 26. Even after setting for a week. Never a free start on mag.

I wouldn't complain.
