Help identifying the year of this T

Post by Tmodelt » Tue Sep 08, 2020 5:00 pm

Can any of you smart members help identify the year of this T Touring? The couple sitting on the running board are my maternal grandparents before they were married. They were married in 1920. The fellow in the driver's seat is my grandfather's older brother. Chaperone maybe?

I would only guess 1917 to 1922. But likely before 1919 when demountables and a starter were optional and would not likely have cowl lights. The smart ones may be able to do better than that.

By the looks of the right wheel the car might have had something to happen to it. The wheel looks like it’s in a rut and might have a broken hub by how it’s leaning outward. Maybe it’s just the way the photo was taken causes it to look the way it does. There is a story behind the photo I’ll bet!
I would date the car probably a 19 or before because of the cowl lights.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they had a wheel break. They lived in east central Illinois at the time this photo was taken. The driver (my grandpa's brother) has a somewhat sour look on his face. Thanks for all the help so far.

I believe I see the earlier style spring clip, so I'll say 17-20.

After another look I believe I see the wishbone above the axle. A shadow under the spring and then white as it goes behind the license plate. That would make it '17 or '18.

The position of the windshield hinge appeared in later 1917. The bow sockets look square which along with the previous comments would make it 1918 or non-starter 1919 (maybe :D )
