26-27 roadsters....

Are fender skirts and fenders ALWAYS black? Saw a couple at a old car tour a couple weeks ago and wondered how many might be out there. I KNOW that originality precludes this question with many, but I was intrigued by an all red one, unfortunately I completely blanked on getting a picture....Anyone here have a one color roadster or pickup and dare to admit it?

The whole cars were originally black. Later the customer could order the body in several colors but the fenders and splash aprons were still black. The deluxe models had nickel radiator shells and headlight rims as well as bumpers and wire wheels. The wheels were black unless they were ordered in color The standard had no bumpers and had wood wheels. Of course, it was like it still is. The dealer might have a deluxe model in the showroom and the customer could drive it home, or could order the standard model and wait until a shipment came in.
The cars you see in tours, parades, or for sale, are not all restored to original specifications, but are painted as the owner wishes. Remember, very few cars are still to be found with original paint. Sometimes if you sand down or strip the existing paint, you might find some original paint underneath, but almost all the cars you find today have been completely stripped or sandblasted before the modern paint job.

Thanks Norman. This is from the MTFCA Encyclopedia "1926-1927 Completely new design (except for trucks which continued the 1925 style). Painted black regardless of body color."

My 27 coupe has original paint on the body, Moss Green, but the fenders are Black and have been repainted with a brush many years ago.

How you paint a T depends on whether you want to be "correct" and use Ford's factory color scheme, or don't mind customizing the appearance. If you prefer the first approach, you consult the encyclopedia and other references and find out how Ford did it. If not, you just pick your colors and use them.
Stock 1927 with optional straw wheels.
Creative coloring.

Woohoo! Man, that’s a head turner! The white example above does look a little wacky, the examples I saw were red and a dark grey...

The red tires on that roadster are from Rich Eagle, the only known supplier of red Model T tires in the world!
