David Dewey...Good News!

Post by Thorlick » Sat Sep 19, 2020 11:58 am

I just got an e-mail from David Dewey. I don't know if you were aware but he went to visit family in Dunsmuir, because his house was without power, about two weeks ago. Shortly after leaving Oroville he found out that his neighborhood was evacuated due to the fire approaching. He was not allowed back so he has been in Dunsmuir worrying about his home not knowing if he has one now, or his antique cars either.

Well his note revealed that his home survived! I assume his belongings also. Both he and Linda sound like they are doing well... thank goodness!

We all think this year has been rough on us, but in addition to all we have going on the Deweys have both had serious health issues and have almost finished their house which they have been working on for many years. Good news for David is WAY overdue!

Terry, this falls into the category of "gentle chiding." The subject has been discussed on the forum before, but here goes again.

If your subject line had been "Good news from David Dewey" or "David Dewey Okay," I would not have had the moments of worry that a name standing alone as a subject on the forum brings. The initial reaction is, "Omigod, what's happened to David Dewey?" Unfortunately, names alone are also often used to announce that another of our friends has left us. A more complete subject line avoids the worry, brief though it may be.

End of sermonette. :)

True, but his last post there was six days ago, hence my concern about a post that was about him, but not by him.

I assume that applies to my own posts. I doubt I can wander through the forum, changing the titles of everyone else's threads willy-nilly.... :D

I just posted it as a general FYI to those not following along. Many seem not to know that the OT forum even exists.

Thank you all for your concerns, thoughts, & Prayers. We are again home, although this AM the smoke coming in the window woke me up, and then I heard that Forbestown was again on evacuation, but apparently the fire danger was well-east of us,a nd now it is clearing up a bit, whew! Barney is fine, still awaiting new body wood and some thrust washer replacement before he ventures out into the world again. We have once more, dodged the fire bullet, although the aim is awfully close! and now I see the wind is picking up a bit, but seems to be mostly west, so it should be blowing the fire back onto itself--good!
Took me a while to get back on line, for some reason my password was not accepted, so had to go through some hoops to get a new one.
Y'all take care!
David
PS, ARGH!! Had to add that as today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day--AVAST!
T'ake care,
David Dewey
