The lettering in the first illustration sure looks like later cartoon-ish style to be used in the era of the winged pyramid.

When did I do that?

My guess is Dad had them because of the winged pyramid and being 1912, But I have never seen any thing related to selling used cars that far back

The form and use of the big exclamation point is something I’ve seen on other literature from the era.

The type face and style looks to be sometime between the 30's and 50's.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Colin,

I am about 90% confident that is a Ford of Canada used car sales program pamphlet. It might be a reproduction but Ford of Canada actually had that program during the 1920s.

I did not sign up for the free trial, but I did screen shot the information. From: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/419571056/ it takes you to a very small page of the Thursday Jul 3, 1924 The Gazette, Montreal, Canada page 28. (If the link doesn't take you there -- I don't know how long they keep a search active -- Type the following into Google and it should let you select that issue. For Google: Ford of Canada “This is a guaranteed Ford used car” 1924 Note that you can see the Winged Pyramid has the same style writing inside it.

If you sign up for the free trial you should be able to download it at a higher resolution.

I am still trying to figure out how to place the photos where I want them. But for now I'll sign off followed by one more reference after the signature. By the way -- it looks like a making for an article in "The Vintage Ford?"

Also page 884 of "Automotive Industries, the Automobile, Volume 52, Issues 19-22" May 14, 1925 had an article but again it was only a snippet was shared. I tried to go back and find it again--but it is somewhere on the internet highway.

Minor correction to the dates the site at: http://thenewswheel.com/behind-badge-is ... ford-logo/ listed. The Ford USA literature used it 1912 - early 1918. Below is the title page from an early 1918 "Owner's Manual." All though the Owner's Manual is NOT dated, we know it is a 1918 because it includes a lot of information on the Ton Truck. On the title page it says "Cars & Trucks." It does however use the dash layout of the 1917 Model T car. But that was common for them to use an earlier photo if nothing major changed. In this case the light switch was still shown on the right side of the coil box and it still had the equal length windshield hinges. And if someone wants to say it is actually a 1917 calendar year publication -- that is fine. It clearly is after they shared above that the Winged Pyramid was replaced by the Ford Oval in 1912. In the USA the Ford Oval with the blue background was introduced with the 1928 model year -- Model A Fords.

There is also a great article on the dates of the Winged Pyramid posted earlier by Eric Hylen at http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29 ... 1198364628 scroll down to the last posting.

Respectfully submitted, (I need to practice on how to place the image where I want it to be.)

Colin,

Thank you for finding and posting the better newspaper advertisement.

Based on the newspaper clipping you posted and re-reading the original documents you posted, I believe there is an excellent chance the "signs" you have with their text were printed to be placed in the windshield of the used "T" the Ford dealer had for sale. Advertising the cars to the buyers as a better deal. Sort of like today's "Ford Certified Pre-owned Vehicle." It was also interesting that Ford of Canada set that standard priced for the used Fords the dealers sold. And that they reconditioned the used cars that they purchased to sell and actually had the price they paid for the car, the price of the repairs, and the selling price all listed for the new buyer. Today the car dealers still have "guaranteed used" cars or in the case of today's Ford dealers - "Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles." But now days I don't think they share what they paid for the car or what the cost to refurbish the car was.

I had not heard of that "Guaranteed Ford Used Car" before. We may want to start a new threat about that. Was it only done by Ford of Canada or did other countries also do that? What years was it offered?

If you still have easy access to the name of the paper, date and page number, would you please add that to the posting. I did a quick check and it appears that there was more than one newspaper in Winnipeg back then. That will help to better document the information and hopefully help folks doing research in the future.

Again thank you for posting the update.

Colin,

Thank you for the reference for the Winnipeg Evening Tribune December 30 1924 page 9 advertisement and for posting the more detailed explanation from the May 23 1925 Winnipeg Tribune How the plan works.

Does anyone know of any other country in addition to Canada that offered this or a similar plan through the Ford dealers?

It would also look like the flying Pyramid was used here in Canada all the way through the Model T Years.
