Starter / pedal question

I am putting a starter on my 12 touring as I injured my back 2 years ago. My question is the pedal linkage arm is in the way of the starters end cup so what do I do. Do you bend the arm or put on a pedal made for the starter. The original lettered pedal is in very nice shape and would be nice if they all match if bending does the trick. Will bending give enough clearance?
Thanks Joe

Bending the little arm , also shortens the arm just slightly .
Being slightly shorter , messes up the amount of travel & causes problems .
Either bend & lengthen it or cut one off a later pedal & weld it to the early pedal .

Could you attach a picture? I am not familiar with the differences between the pedal on a 12 and those of the 19 and later which had a starter from the factory. On those pedals which were made to work with a starter, the link between the pedal and the clutch lever is attached with the rod to the left side with the clevis pin on the right. You need to place that rod before you install the bendix cover. There might be an offset on the later pedal tabs which is not on the earlier ones. I could understand better if you were to attach a picture.

Pete is spot on!
The starter era clutch pedal has a significantly different shape to the linkage arm. It’s been a while... but I do not believe the early arm can be reshaped to fit and maintain proper geometry. Will need to change the pedal head on the late, or the linkage arm on the early.

This article shows the difference in the early and the starter type low pedal.
Best to change out, or as Pete posted, weld the later arm on that early pedal.

And none of this applies if you have a RHD car.

I appreciate all the good information and I guess I will have to get a pedal to accommodate.
Thanks again all for your time and input
