Anyone recognize this Depot Hack Body?

Post by LaMacchia » Thu Feb 21, 2019 10:01 pm

Does anyone recognize this body?
COACH WORK BY LAWSON ANTIQUE AUTO WOODWORKING HIGH POINT, N.C.
I'm looking at a titled 1924 Depot Hack for sale.
It's a good looking body, (IMO), very nice hardware, and a professional looking paint job.
The chassis, fenders, hood, etc. all have a beautiful, original looking patina. Engine serial number matches August, 1923.
Apparently, it was supposed to have been stored in some type of museum for the past several years.
I don't know what kind of museum, but title is from Virginia.
Just curious if anyone has any info on the builder.
Thanks, Joe L.

There appears to be a Lawson antique auto woodwork person still in business in NC, who is the son of the original builder. This person was still doing some work last year. On two different British car forums, there were notes of disappointed persons who had ordered and paid for wood frame parts, and had not gotten them. I have no personal knowledge of this person!

Thanks Billdizer. I did see something along those lines from the N.C. BBB about a couple of complaints. Wasn't sure if same or not, but probably. A shame the son may not have the the same work ethic as his father, this body looks to be a quality piece. Simple design, but sturdy.
