In search of...

Post by TWrenn » Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:14 am

Yes I know this belongs in the classifieds and indeed I already posted there, but not everyone looks there. So I am posting here a pic of the "4-screw" window regulator that I am in need of for the LEFT rear door of my Fordor. Anyone got a decent working one? No vendor sells repops of this style. . PM or drop a call or text to 419-271-5405. Thanks!

Tim,

Can't help with where to find one as they are as rare as hens teeth...

Folks for a while were modifying other units to fit, but it always required a whole lot of 'cobbling' of good sheet metal to happen.

Guy named Tony Cimorelli dug into it one time and discovered that what seemed to be the failure was either the axel bushing for the big gear segment, or the roller bushing at the end of the arm. Think it was MTFCI and he then posted pictorals on a step-by-step basis of what he did to make 'good as new' and save that precious and unobtainium bolt up pattern unit without need to cobble the body for something else to fit.

Tony went on to other interest I've heard, but perhaps by my mentioning him, someone will go 'oh yeah' and have links to his rebuild series?

Good luck.

(Now watch, someone will offer up 1/2 dozen at an outrageous price and sell them in 10 minutes....lolol)

Thanks George. Good info. I'll try to hunt him up.
Meanwhile, a bit ago I got a text from a nice fellow name of Glenn French (shoulda asked him if he was related to Gene!), who had a similar issue, he got it rectified by getting some new parts made by a machine shop in Illinois. He sent me their info, I sent them an email and will wait for their reply. So between the two, I should get it up and running hopefully in short order. Thanks again to you and Glenn!
