Is the firewall hole pattern the same for a Kingston and Heinze Coil Box? This is on a December 1912 car—- early 13.

My 09 came with a Heinz coil box but the build sheet indicated it should be a Kingston. I found one in Michigan and had to drive to his home to pick it up (see this months Vintage Ford).
When I arrived home it fitted perfectly😊

All Model T firewalls are drilled to fit all coilboxes.

Different coils have different dimensions and will not fit in different boxes.

Keith has it backwards: all coilboxes are built to fit the one pattern in the Ford firewall :D

Ford gave them the measurements and it was then up to the different companies to build their boxes accordingly.

Nice early ‘13! I’m curious to know a couple of things if you can help me. What is the distance from the top of your ID tag to the top of the firewall? Is the plate centered to the steering column? Also, does your ID plate’s number match your motor? I have a September 1912 build ‘13. My plate was missing. I have a repro. My car has a Heinz coil box. My motor is B872, Canadian car. Thanking you in advance!

The automobile is a Dec 24 1912 build the ID plate number is not the same as the motor number. The plate is offset about a half an inch to the left of center of the column. The plate number is 168164, the first one looks the same but, it is not black.?? The motor number is 180571. The automobile has clamshell rear end Call if you have questions, Bob nine o three eight 24 1949.

Bob: Got the venturi, and thanks for the candy! Was your firewall replaced before you owned it? I run KW boxes on my '13s only because back when I got my touring RV wasn't making points.

Given the fact that RV was a newborn when you got your touring, it's not too surprising that he wasn't making points.
