If the firewall is the same as a touring you will. The pan ears won't clear it. I believe there's another post discussing the same thing.

I had to raise the body on my 15 runabout. I left the rear two body bolts installed but loose so that I could lift the body up at the firewall without having it to slide back while lifting it.

Don't over think the "lift". A good pry bar and two 3/4" pieces of wood and two pieces of 1 3/4" wood. Neal's advice is spot on!

I'm with Rajo...when I took the engine out of my '15 touring I just performed some minor surgery on the firewall to
slide the engine out. No big deal. Why go to all the trouble raising the body, risking busting things, when you don't have to.

Oh gosh! Please don't! It took me a good part of a day the first time. A few weeks later only a couple hours.

I just took the firewall out on the 1915 and did the same on the 1913.

Andre...how coincidental! I did the same too on my 15 and 13. I did forget to mention in my previous post that while I didn't take the '15s firewall completely off, I just slid it up a few inches, but still had to perform a little body surgery to get the pan ears out. IT wasn't all that bad, nothing showed when I was done.
But man the '13 and my '12 for that matter, was a whole lot easier without that big wood firewall in the way! An easy, almost horizontal pull out/drop in!!

I currently own a '14 Touring which I had modified years ago to electric start for the previous owner - he was in his mid 80's and couldn't hand crank any longer. I removed the firewall and as Tim stated "but still had to perform a little body surgery to get the pan ears out", I did the same to be able to remove the starter.

Neal is correct. You don't have to remove the firewall or attack it with a Sawzall. Just undo the brackets from the frame, remove the front four body bolts, loosen the rear two, and put the front of the body on 2 x 4 blocks. I've done this several times, and I've never broken anything. I don't see anything to break.
