I have a bunch of accessory brake parts Im getting ready to sell but Im not sure what they are. I have a pair of modern repro Rocky brake bands, and a pair of modern repro Rocky brake rods, that I know what are. (they are shown in the last photos). But Im not sure of the rest of the parts. I think it is a set of original AC large drum brake bands and brackets. ??? There is also a pair of AC brackets for what appear to be small drum ACs as well as a modern ?? AC style bracket ?? I have also shown in one of the pics the AC bracket (shaped like the letter C) installed in place of the longer 26-27 style bracket. But Im really not sure of anything other than the modern repro large drum bands and rods shown in the last photos.

There was someone wanting a set of the modern repro Rocky brake bands, but I was on vacation and I can not find his ad.

Any help will be appreciated.

I'm not sure what you have, however, This is what I have: On my 26 Roadster which I bought in 1989, I first bought auxiliary brakes before I began to drive it. So must have been 1989 or early 1990 when I bought them. The only parts source I knew of at the time was Chaffin's garage, so I most likely bought them there.

They are identical to the currently sold Rocky Mountain brakes made for the 26-27 with the large drum. The casting for the anchor which bolts to the same place as the radius rod looks just like the Rocky Mountain, but the name on it cast into the metal is AC. The only difference is it has woven linings and the later Rocky Mountain brake has fiber linings. The equalizer was also the same and everything except the rod between the low pedal and the equalizer did not have the slot which allowed you to pull on the parking brake without pulling down the foot pedal. I later replaced the link with the one with a slot, because I like to be able to apply the parking brake separately from the foot pedal.

also, do you have two wire wheel drums?

I have a set identical to the ones Norm describes. They were the first version of '26-'27 brakes that Jack Sunderlin made before he started calling them Rocky Mountain. That's what you have. Regarding the similar bracket, it could be an original but doesn't match the one shown in the original ad.

old_charlie, Thanks for the picture of the ad. Im almost positive what I have is the same as the ad shows. My parts look the same.

Jonah, This is an incomplete set, It will need parts made and repaired to be useable. I would not recommended it to someone installing their first set.

So it appears that I have a mostly complete set of the brake parts that attach to the rear end for a 26-27, missing one actuating L-arm and one rear guide bar. To be a complete set I would also need the cable, pulley, turnbuckle, and pedal clamp.

I also have a pair of repro modern Rocky brake bands, a pair of modern repro Rocky brake rods, and a pair of unknown brackets that fit a 26-27 rear end that put the anchor point at the rear of the axle.

Thanks for the help. Now I know what I have. Ill post a few pics where I mocked up the AC parts on a 26-27 rear axle housing.
