Here is a interesting diagram that illustrates the importance of having an outside oil line for lubricating the front bearings, which can easily be deprived of oil in a short time when going up a long hill if the original inside oil line gets blocked by cotton lint from the band linings, which is a common occurrence. I used to have the magneto outside oil line but abandoned it in favor of the hogshead mounted, flywheel pressure fed oil line, which, in my opinion is much more efficient. Mine goes into the side of the block between the first and second bearings which is high enough to also oil the front main bearings, while others prefer to go through the pan. Jim Patrick
