My 26 coupe doors sag as much as 1/4" at the door latch. This is unsightly so I want to correct it but thought I would throw this question out to the forum members. How is this adjustment made, such that the doors line up properly and don't sag? My hinges look good and not bent.

Your '26 coupe doesn't have a lot of wood in it like the earlier coupes , so it holds it's shape better .
You can probably adjust the sag out by shimming the body mounts .

If your door has a metal frame which I think it does sometimes the door frame mounting area gets pulled out after many years. Sometimes you can remove the door and carefully use a flat piece of steel the size of the hinge area and tap the steel plate with a hammer and move the hinge area in enough to be able to pull the sag back in.
That’s one way to do it if the hinge area is pulled out some.

Well I did some more searching using different words and found this:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12178&p=91980&hilit=door+sag#p91980

You will note he talks about pulling the front cowl forward to adjust the doors. Lord, that looks like some serious work but if necessary.....

Greg: Don Booth is a good source of information on the Improved cars. Have you tried to determine if the body/frame has sagged, causing the symptoms you observe? You may already know, there are wood blocks supporting the body sub frame on top of the chassis frame. I'd check for a low point at the body block mount at the base of the seat riser. If that point of the body were to 'settle' it would give the condition you describe. If the chassis frame 'settled in that area it would also cause the same issues. Best, jb

According to this diagram, if you tighten the body down at the firewall while shimming just in front of the door hinge column, it will tilt the door forward, closing the gap at the top. I have never done this so, even though it makes sense to me, try at your own risk. Jim Patrick
