OT Greasy Spoons and Drive ins

Post by Ruxstel24 » Tue Feb 26, 2019 12:39 pm

We have several drive ins that have car shows on the weekends....In the summer !!
One not too far away called Winks, I will get there this year, hopefully. So not totally OT.

Today I was close to this little burger stand called Bob's Hamburger. For $4.75 you get a real hot fresh burger that beats any of the fast food joints. ;)

Dave:
I miss the family owned restaurants ...was one in Chugwater ,Wy. that was also a gas station … had a sign that said " eat here and get gas " … food was good and was far from other places back in the late 1960's … was well worth the risk … always an optimist...Gene French

Chugwater, WY was voted to have the best tasting water in Wyoming. "Next stop is the national competition in Washington, D.C. February 2018".
I haven't heard the results.
Rich
When did I do that?

Elmer Spelunker kept his herd on the north fork of the South Chugwater, which gives
Chugwater Lake that delightful scent and tang of urine. Always a tourist's delight, and
available in pint, quart, or half gallon fruit jars from Ma Frombacher's back porch.

Might I suggest Scotty's, next time you're in Idaho Falls ? The George Jetson ambiance
is out of this world ! The ice cream sundae at Stockman's is enough to feed 12 !

The Dover Diner had a sign on the roof: Eat here or we'll both starve. Building looked like a broad side ranch with a full porch across the front. When it was sold they tore the building down carefully revealing a rail road car type diner. It was carted off.
Forget everything you thought you knew.

I remember this one next to the Gilmore station at Florence and Figueroa. California was the capital of creative architecture for filling stations and dining establishments, but there were other examples all over the country. I also remember buying a real hamburger with Everything for 25¢ at a little mom & pop stand in Lomita.
The inevitable often happens.

Don G. I got your PM notification, but had no PM.
To answer your question, Bob's is on East Av. Just north of I-77. I don't think you can get off 77 going S there...
They have a good breakfast too !! :)
