In the Nov/Dec issue of Model T Times Dan Treace mentions an accessory ratchet pawl spring. Is this available or do you need to make one? Is it made from a commercially available spring? Thanks all.

The suppliers should all have them in stock. https://www.modeltford.com/item/3463R.aspx

I used a spring from the local hardware store. No shipping.

A suggestion on using the accessory spring - as it is quite strong, I recommend squeezing the release handle whilst pulling on the brake handle to alleviate premature wear on the pawl & ratchet !

Amen to your suggestion Steve!. I totally wore out the tooth not squeezing the handbrake lever when pulled back. Learn by ruin 😀

The handbrake lever should ALWAYS be squeezed when the brake is applied, no matter how stiff the spring is, or isn't. Same thing goes for any other similar type of ratchet type of system. Learned that by being around farm equipment over 60 years ago. Just makes sense. Dave
