The first race in the World was the Paris-Bordeaux-Paris Trial on 25 February 1895.

Re: THE HORSE IS DOOMED
I'm reminded of Mister Ed, who talked to Wilbur Post only when nobody else was around. When I try to show how easy it is to hand crank my T and it refuses to start, I tell folks it's Mister Ed.
You may not have heard that Mister Ed had such a strong New York accent that the producers hired another actor to dub his lines.

Re: THE HORSE IS DOOMED
A horse is a horse, of course, of course
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed!
Go right to the source and ask the horse
He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse
He's always on a steady course
Talk to Mr. Ed!
People yakkity yak a streak and waste your time of day
But Mister Ed will never speak unless he has something to say
A horse is a horse, of course, of course
And this one'll talk 'til his voice is hoarse
You never heard of a talking horse?
Well listen to this...
I am Mister Ed!
Google will find almost anything!

Re: THE HORSE IS DOOMED
My grandfather was the head stableman on a great estate in England. One day Sr. Marconi told my grandfather that he seemed a capable young man, would he like to come work for him putting up some radio transmission towers. The reply, often repeated in the family lore was, "No sir, that radio thing is a passing fad, but by God people will always need horses". There went the chance for family fame and fortune. Now I am stuck with Model T's.

If we had to go back to horses, I don't think they would be laughing!
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
