After four years, I got it finished and back on the road. I went through all the systems front to back, repairing and fixing if needed. I also dressed it up a little. My scope/vision was to keep it looking old, like an old farm truck that was used from 1924 to 1950 plus. To make it look like you just pulled it out of the shed in 1950 to drive, a 30-year-old practical farm truck. I tried to use materials to repair it, that you would find from 1950 back to 1910 or so. Well at least the parts that would be seen from the outside (inside parts can be modern; I am not that much of a purist). Also, the accessories were also period (from 1950 back to 1910 or so) were fair game to add to the truck for creature comfort, and to make it practical for a working farm truck. Just take a look at the two spot lights, you cannot ever have enough light to fix the holes in the fence at night, to keep the cows from getting out and eating you neighbor’s corn. I grew up on a farm and the work days can be 24 hours long, and working by truck head lights is no stranger to me.
As for the truck, it originally came from Arizona, about 10 miles north from the Mexican border. So, the metal was in great shape from the dry climate. I also have the original title too.
Well it did not take me four years just for this 1924 Model TT truck, I was also working on my 1924 Model T touring, and learning to work on both of them, and all my spare parts. I was determined to learn to work on them correctly, by getting the MTFCA books, any other books, reading all I could on this website, etc., etc., and making a plan so I did not miss anything. Thanks for the help MTFCA and all the members. You made my life easy from all the information you have provided.

Roger,

The black Iron pipe is my design to make the brake rod collapsible when I apply the rear brakes. I put a brake equalizer and stainless-steel cables attached to the rear brake cam levers on the truck so I could use the rear parking/emergency brakes as service brakes. Since the rear brakes have linings, I can use them as service brakes. That way I can increase my braking power by 3 times. I also had to do this since I added a Muncie gear box that increased my speed and it also has a true neutral to the drive train. When I push the foot brake pedal, the rear brakes are applied as well as the transmission brake. The truck stops much quicker. I also wanted to keep my brake rods in their original position, and have a backup braking connection.

Did the front fender brace come with the truck when you got it? I have a few front fender braces but not one like yours with the headlights curves. Looks sharp.

No, the truck did not have that front fender brace on it, I added it. My 1924 Model T touring has that type on it, and I liked it so well, so I found one for the truck. In the last four years, I have only seen three of those types, and I have two of them. I would like to get more for future Model Ts.

That's really creative! Glad to know that it works well too; some of my improvements end up being dubious, at best.

This truck is too cool! Love the upholstery, perfect for a farm truck. The brake rod is ingenious.

I am quite smitten with your brake idea. Can you share photos of the pedal end
of your design ?
