I'd put the engine down low and above it a chain driven shaft to a prop at the rear.

Considering that my dad traded a set of horns for this chopped off T sedan, I'd say this would be a cheaper route to go. He used it on frozen lakes around St. Paul.

Well Mr. Jelf, with your prop in the rear of the sled I sure wouldn't want to slide back! You would be chum for the fish and make very colorful ice!

Oh ya Dave, when your mustche and beard have so much ice you cant drink your coffee. Been there done that.
Negative 18 degrees and our job is to put the fire out. Then it felt cold.
