Stewart 1276 speedo disassembly

I like to restore my Stewart 1276 speedometer.
However, I cannot take it apart. I am just able to unscrew the back and a chrome ring but that is blocked by the dat counter reset knob. I don’t want to break anything.
Does have anyone experience with this?

I tried to post a picture yesterday. I will check the instructions. I did find a link to a photo, I hope that works for now:

The 1276 number is stamped into the back of the cupped bracket that holds the speedometer to a steel dashboard. The 1276 number is a prt number for the cupped bracket. The speedometer in the photo is a Stewart Warner Model 131, which is identical to a Model 160. I hope this helps,

I just had mine apart not log ago to “fix” it... it came apart easily as I recall. Lot’s of little bits inside but easy to deal with. A good cleaning and a little Hammond B3 oil on the gears and now it works great and is surprisingly accurate.

Thanks Russ, I did not know that about the casing/bracket.
