Sediment Bulb Valve Weeping

Hello everyone, I am having issues with my sediment bulb leaking (again) and it appears to be weeping from the main valve. I use the valve every time I drive (once a month or so), as I don't have one by the carb. There is a lot of pitting on the inside surface of the valve on one side, is this normal? Is something like this fixable? The rest of the bulb seems in great shape otherwise. Sorry for the picture quality, the lighting was poor.

If that valve were mine I would replace it. With all that pitting, it might be impossible to get a good seal.

Does anyone sell a brass replacement valve? You could fill the pits with silver solder, file to shape and grind it in place with valve grinding paste then the yellow stuff.

The vendors sell the whole sediment bulb unit, you could try calling them to see if they would sell just the handle. Of course, if the handle is that pitted, its socket may be pitted also.

I've never seen one in that condition!

Likely began as a porous, flawed rough casting.

I agree with Rich that this must have been a flawed casting from the get-go as the difference in condition between the sides is quite extreme. I will look into replacing it, thanks. I tried to re-lap it about 6 months ago and it seems like it didn't last very long.
