Anyone know what axle or wheels are on this trailer? The guy selling it is sure its model T. NOT ! Nice little trailer. I have not seen it in person so I dont even know tire size.

A friend who's the sole survivor of the family, his brother died 2 years ago at 56. He has a 1940 (I think) Plymouth PU !! Don't see them everywhere, it's gorgeous too. Wish I could get a picture.
His father rear ended my dad in a parade years before he repainted it...(70s ?). He was in a T at the time.

A good start to find what it is,count the lug nuts? I do not know what it is but 1/2 ton Ford it's not.Bud.

Dallas, you should know by now that anything old and rusty came from a Model T Ford.

Those are 6 or maybe even 7 lug MWC (Motor Wheel Corp) wheels. Certainly mounted to the correct hubs (especially if they are 7 lug). The rims look to be 19” or 20” lockring, suggests to me that the axle might be ‘28-30’ era medium to heavy car. I know that the MWC wheels were used on at least Huppmobile cars, but I’m sure many other makes. Maybe Layden has some insight

F1 ford has a drop center wheel and five lug nuts.
That trailer is a six bolt wire spoke wheeler with a lock ring on the rim. Late twenties at best.
Could be late twenties chrysler, definitely NOT from a ‘40 Plymouth pickup. They we five lug nut with disc wheels.

That trailer might look really neat behind the TT. Hint hint.

The chance in finding someone who needs the axle and wheels for a restoration are probably slim to none.
Next alternative would be to pull it with a period truck or car that would probably be in the late 20’s thru 40’s time frame. Would look neat in a parade.
From the picture it looks like it was kept in a barn and not outside.

John you are correct. It has been in a barn forever. The owner passed and the family want rid of it. Thats why its outside. I think they want a couple hunred for it. It would cost $300 to put tires on it I think. It would be handy behind my RPU around the farm tho.

... and it would be half-impossible to recreate with all that patina for 100x the
asking price. That thing is awesome !

Stuff like this was everywhere when I was a kid. Not sure how it all evaporated,
but it did. We lived on a farm, and one of my jobs, besides looking after everything
related to the horses, was to sort the trash for paper burnables, and the stuff that
got put in cans on a trailer like this one (but newer), and hauled to the dump every
few months. On these trips, it was nothing unusual to see oldies like this still in
service, doing exactly what we were doing with ours. In 1970, so many Depression
era survivors were still around doing their OCD frugal thing and scoffing at the newest-
is-best mentality of the younger generations. I feel SO blessed to have been around
those oldsters. They corrupted my entire way of seeing life, and now as I age out, I
look back and see it has all been wasted chasing rust.
