technical question about the starter.
Hi there,
I have a technical question about the starter.
What is the power of the starter (in KW) and what is the power consumption (peak and nominal current).
I am the President of the Ford Model T Club of Germany and a member really wants to know this.

The power of a starter depends on the voltage at the starter and the condition of the starter. The input power can be determined by measuring the current flowing thru the starter and the voltage at the starter terminal. The output power depends on the efficiency of the starter, which would require a dynamometer to determine. I have a friend with a small engine dyno and maybe I could get him to measure a starter. I am not sure why I would need to know this other than curiousity. Art Mirtes

I'm nearly certain that Ron Patterson has done this testing and mentioned the results in the past. Hopefully, he'll see your posting and have your answers.

Anton ; the starter of a Model T need atleast to lift 11 pound at one foot .

Ron covered this in 2012, see Scott's link for additional info,
"Assuming the starting motor is operating properly on 6 volts it should draw 70 amps free running, 150-160 Amps cranking engine and 450 Amps stalled pushing 12 pounds of torque.
Model T battery cables should be 1/0 with soldered (not crimped) wire terminals.
