Serious cabin fever—counting the days

Post by Steve Jelf » Mon Mar 04, 2019 11:46 am

But my mind is on distant roads...
Boy, howdy! For now it's a sweet daydream, but spring and summer will come, I'll have a T ready to go, and I'll be off to explore distant country roads in my magic flivver. I recommend it highly. :)

Steve - If that fancy brass '15 roadster in the picture is your,...."magic flivver", I would assume that your other Model T's would be considered "black magic", huh? (:^)

.....I've seen a photo or two of your '15 roadster as well as several of your other Model T's in the past (including the '15 with only 3 wheels) where (at the time) you probably called them something considerably less "affectionate" than your,....."magic flivver"! Ha,ha,.....harold

Guess that picture is really worth another comment or two Steve,.....what a GREAT photograph! As nice as that photo is, I can't help thinking that if it had been taken a few minutes sooner (....or maybe later as I can't tell if that's morning or evening?) the moon would be lower, larger, and more yellow, and it would be more than a "great" photo,....it'd be FANTASTIC!

......another observation or two,......I didn't realize that white tires make so much LESS dust than black tires! All kidding aside,....for a still picture, that Model T looks like it's bounding up that hill like it really wants to go someplace, and a bit more dust behind would add even more to the sensation of "movement"! I guess it must be morning, and probably the morning dew is what's holding the dust down, huh?

The more I think about it, I think Richard Eagle with his paint brushes, could slightly "enhance" that moon a bit and add just a bit more dust and paint a picture that would be a real "winner"! You just wait and see Steve,.....if Rich sees this one, I'll bet he'd be "tempted",.....harold

Steve, if your magic flivver was a little more to the right in that picture it would sure enough make a good cover for the Vintage Ford.

I thought you might be on your way to Chickasha already, but you are too close to Oklahoma for that!

It's an evening shot, Harold. I planned to shoot it with the moon just above the horizon, but it turned out such a hazy afternoon I had to wait until it rose above the haze enough to be seen. I'll shoot another full moon picture sometime when the weather is more cooperative.

The white tires make nice pictures, but those are my last ones. This shot shows why.

This is why that wheel with a black tire is on the car.

Dallas, Kansas hills aren't very high, but some of them are pretty steep.

Steve J, I too look forward to you being back on the road again. Considering all the time I spent on here before I got our '21 Touring up and running I have still spent more time riding with you than I have in our own car! The conversation ain't much but the scenery sure is good. I got a go-pro type camera for Christmas, this past so I am going to make some of my own ride-along videos this year. Oh yeah, this weekend is when we North Americans set our clocks forward an hour so we "gain" an hour of daylight each day. Yipee! :D :D :D

I know the feeling... I'm a bit further north, winter starts November first and lasts until we get 2 weeks of spring that starts mid May. June 1st through September the thermostat is stuck on hot/humid but October is nice
