I am just reinstalling my steering column after repairing the loose rivet situation at the top. Guess I wasn't paying attention when I removed the column. There are 2 different length bolts that are used to attach the mounting flange on the column to the lower flange on the frame. I don't see any real reason for this. Did somebody just use a wrong bolt at one time or is there a reason for the difference? If so, which bolt goes where (front vs rear)?

Should be same length bolts for the bottom.

And don't forget the wood block.

There should be two shorter bolts at the bottom heads up nuts down. A wood block above the two bolt heads and a longer bolt through the top of the bracket, wood and frame. All three have castle nuts with cotter pins.

OK. That's what I thought. I'll go through my box of T bolts. If I can't find one, I'll cut and drill the long one. Thanks for the info
