26 or 27 roadster I found today

I'm waiting for the owner to let me know the price. It appears to be complete, minus fenders and running boards. I didn't completely uncover it today but if we get close on the price I will go back and examine it or just load it up and bring it home. It does not have the Vaporizer carb on it.
The engine is not stuck. There is no cancer in the body. The spare wheel & tire are in the passenger compartment.

The rims and hubs are worth at least $500 if in useable condition. The rear fenders are only used on the roadster, maybe coupe. The front fenders of all 26-27 are the same. Whatever the car costs you, it will be good for spare parts even if you don't get it to running. Or it could be used as a speedster without any fenders. Or if you find all the parts you can put it back together and have an authentic car.

Thom,
I noticed you are from western NC, i live 30 min west of Winston Salem and have a complete set of front fenders, rear fenders, splash aprons and running boards for a 26 roadster. Fenders are in decent shape/ solid and would be good for a driver. Let me know if you are interested in them if you get the roadster.

That's a modern repop of a Model A horn, not worth much at all.

I got a call today from my friend that found the car and took me to see it. The owner was not present, but we had his permission to check it out when I took the pics. The finder called to give me the owners phone number and to tell me that the owner had told him that he (the seller) planned to price the car to me for $1500 but would take $1200 if I counter offered. If that is true I intend to buy it.

I went back, uncovered the car and checked it out then talked to the owner. There are more parts missing than I first realized. Besides the fenders there is no, steering column, radiator, radiator shell, gas tank, deck lid, bumpers, or windshield frame. The quarter panels have been very poorly patched. He wants $1500 and I offered $1000, which he turned down. I was glad that he did. As soon as I made the offer I was regretting it.

Hmmmm. I don't know... I'm not so sure I'd walk away from this car quite yet just because the $1000 offer was turned down. Unless you want a "project" that will require many expensive replacement parts (fortunately fairly available for '26-27 models), consider this car a donor for guys who need parts for their projects. If the wire wheels are truly Model T and not some half-*ssed Model A wheel conversion, the four hubs and five wheels should be worth at least $1200, assuming they are not all rotted and rusted through. At least one wheel appears to be correct for '26-27 in your photos. The roadster body with doors should be well worth over $1000, probably more, even missing the gas tank and windshield parts. If I am seeing top irons woven inside that rat's nest of overgrowth, chalk up another few hundred dollars. A chassis with the correct '26-27 power plant should bring another few hundred dollars from someone who needs a complete chassis.
Yes, a great deal of parts are missing. But if you look at this as a parts car on wheels instead of a "saver" project, you will do well financially at a compromise offer of $1250 CASH waved in front of the guy's nose, preferably with his wife standing nearby to see all that green. Besides coming out well in monetary terms, you will be saving another Model T from certain disintegration by the elements in the next few years. Or worse - the owner dies and the car goes to the recycler in toto. Kiss another Model T good-bye in that case. You will also be helping guys, who need the parts this donor car has to offer. EVERYBODY in this deal wins: the seller, you, the Model T community and history. Make a counter-offer with a smile on your face and a bunch of hundred dollar bills in your hand. A title would be a super plus!

I doubt you will find another decent roadster body for the price. If it has the 26-27 frame that’s a plus. Also if the rearend is correct that’s another plus. It’s a wonder some hot rodder hasn’t bought it. My opinion

Looking closer the wheels look to be 26-27 and if the engine is a 26-27 it could have the more desirable EE crankshaft in it. It’s a little better T crank than the earlier models. Something to think about.

Frame doesn’t look all pitted. Lots of good parts
At least chop those saplings down growing through it

Hard to pass up with 5 wire wheels. Part it out in big chunks, $2000 for the rolling chassis, $500 for the top irons, $800 for the body, that will more than double your investment, then take the money and buy a restorable model T.

Hot rodders aren't as interested in original Ts and Model As as was the case years ago. About the only thing that they will use is the body, and most would prefer a 'glass body. The frame, suspension, and running gear are useless to them. If you are building a rod, it's easier to start with a clean sheet. I have a friend that built a (supposedly) '23 T bucket. The only '23 T parts in it are running lights (and I'm not positive that they are '23 correct) and the steering wheel.

Wish it was closer to me. I would be all over it. Doors will bring $300 EACH at Hershey. Trunk and lid will bring closer to asking price. Top bows if good go fast. Dan
