Hello;
I am working on a 27 coupe and am wondering if anyone can supply a picture of how the lower steering column bracket mounts to the firewall. Not sure if the separate bracket or lower bracket piece mounts to the inside of the firewall or to the engine side of the firewall.
Thanks Steve

On my '27 touring car the lower bracket bolts to the inside of the firewall. I can't see any reason why a coupe would be different. The touring car doors are small and it's possible for one person to hold the screws and install the nuts and washers on the engine side. The coupe will have more substantial doors. It most likely will be easier to have a helper catch and hold the nuts.

Mounts to engine side of the firewall;

With the floor boards out you might be able to reach under and hold the bolts.

The lower bracket should fit to the outside of the firewall. That way the angled flange on the lower edge aligns with the lower firewall edge on the Inside of the firewall.
That is where the top floorboard rests. The bracket is offset to align the steering column flush with the firewall.
Factory original Nov. '25 production, un-disturbed, prior to restoring.
