Another Hyatt Bearings engineer was buried today

Marty Hogan was an engineer at the former NDH which was a merging of New Departure Bearings and Hyatt Bearings in 1965. Marty started at Hyatt in 1959 and retired in 1992. His responsibilities included the design and applications of the wound roller bearings until they went out of production in 1989. Through the years he had worked on the design of the Lunar Roving Vehicle wheel bearings, helped develop the integrated speed sensor/wheel bearing and many other bearing applications. The last engineering consulting in his retirement involved the Hyatt Bearings in the Model T rear axel bearings last year when I rebuilt my 1923 rear axle.
Fortunately, the former Chief Engineer, Don Terek, who has a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge is still with us.
I am proud to say that I worked with both of these people for many years.
Until recently, we had lunch together about once a month.
