It still looked like that in 1945! And the campground was so full that you could almost use the same pegs for adjacent tents. That was before designated campsites. Just an area called campground and was first come, first served. Gas was still rationed and my dad got a job selling plastic coat hangers, because wire ones were not being made. We left the Los Angeles area and I remember stopping at towns all along the way while he went in to make a sales pitch. Mom, my sister and I would visit a local park while he was doing business. Finally we took a side trip to Yosemite. It is amazing, looking back on things how many people were there during gas rationing. I was 9 years old and dad and I hiked all the way from the floor to Glacier Point and back in one day!

They look very relaxed enjoying their vacation. I enjoy seeing the portable gramophone and what looks like a lady diving on the Touring radiator. Also the large wind wings look great. The coupe far in the background at left suggests to me it could be 1929 or '30.
Thanks

Thanks Mark. I had no idea. I guess I've led a sheltered life.

I have home movies of camping there in the summer of 1963. This is
where life went "all wrong" for me. Traveling about in the Sierra foothills
in the early 60's, ... it was a wonderland of old mining and logging and
ghost town relics and things to poison the minds of youth. I caught it
bad, and now I look back on a life wasted chasing rust, and realize where
it all went wrong for me.
