Wow! Never knew anyone reproduced that AND I’m very surprised it is only $25! I’m replacing the tank in a ‘27 Tudor next month and will be ordering one!

That molded fiberboard gas tank insulator for the '27 cars is a very nice reproduction, fits fine. The earlier Improved Car just used two strips of webbing that were riveted at 4 places to the cowl. You can tell if you car is later, as those tiny 4 holes will be missing from the upper face of the cowl.

Anyone have a photo of the two webbing strips (2917) mounted in the cowl?
I need to see whether I need to order 2917 or 2918.
Thanks!

These should help you, pieces for all but Fordor:

All '26-'27 used webbing pads above the tank.

Only some '26 used webbing pads behind the tank. You can tell by holes punched in the cowl face for these pair of pads.

The later 26-27 did away with the two webbing cowl pads, and used the molded fiberboard insulator.[/b]

All used the rubber insulator strips on the support rods that hold the tank in place.

Looks like I have the holes, and rivets are still there

So I can now say I have a 26 - not a 26/27? :D

Excellent info. I did not even know they were there to begin with 'cause it had nothing.
I see now that even my question was wrong. Finally got 2917, 2918, and 2918A straight.
Thanks again.
