I have used them for years, no issues, perfect for me, your mileage may vary.

I use them a lot i have freinds that biuld chebbies that have buckets of them! the used ones fit better, new ones often need a little belt sanding to get into the rod. If you torque them to chebby specs. ( some call for 45 bl. ft. of torque ) with dippers you may never get the dippers off in one piece. Just a word to the wise. What do the other guys that use them torque to? I once found a set drilled for cotter pins.

I crank them down same as a grade 8—38 flbs on a clean, dry thread. Chevy small block specks say 40-45.

Do you use lock washers or self locking nuts? The bolts I have the threads look good so I’m thinking they were used with lock washers.

No lock washers or lock nuts. I use the stock Chevy nuts that came on the bolts, the nuts are taller and have 2 or 3 more threads than a standard nut. They hold just fine when properly torqued.
