Does anybody make new contact rings for the brass timers? This is the contacts inside the timer that the roller makes contact with. Also, does anyone make rollers for them?

Hi Robbie:
The early contact ring is similar but not identical to multiple later styles. I was able to retrofit a contact ring that I liberated from a T-3165 repro timer that I got from Snyders, by installing a shim between this ring and the original bronze housing diameters. The shim needs to be a non-conductive material, such as fiber board or plastic....very simple.

I have a cast repro rotor that I've had to do some surgery on when the steel pin that the contact roller carrier pivots on, worked its way loose... fortunately that this didn't turn the timer into a grenade.

Not sure whether anyone currently makes an early style rotor, as the repro I have was among a collection of parts that a friend acquired, and then sold to me....could be a 49 year old repro for all I know. In addition to it's cast construction, it's roller and axle is a basic arrangement where the roller wobbles a bit on the axle (could be this is by design?). I've thought about reproducing a higher quality version of these, but as has consistently been the case with this real early stuff, there simply aren't enough customers out there, to make the tooling and manufacturing effort worth the while. Don Tyler of Rising Sun Ohio has made timers for two cylinder Fords. Try contacting him via the Early Ford Registry. If you come up dry, I may have his info somewhere.

If you have access to a mill and lathe you can make a contact ring out of a large bar of delrin. The cut outs for the contacts can be made with a keyway cutter. The moon shaped contacts made from steel bar stock drilled and tapped for the posts. Delicate work but doable.

I think there is one in a box of timers and a few of the brass rollers are there also, you are close enough to come see if it is what you want?

I have had only one Model T engine show up clean, the rest are oily cruddy messes, the only time my hands are clean is when the wife talks me into a weeks vacation down south!

Mine measures 2 13/16 diameter and approx 5/8” deep.
You mentioned rollers. I found a picture of some rollers from a sales site.

I have half a dozen of the brass ones, some have a bigger backing plate.

I think the bigger backing plate is what I need
