The one that got away
Started messing with T’s back in the early 60’s in the small town on Crowell Texas. An old man had this 13 and hired me to help him set the body on in the summer of 63 or 64. Instead of cash he paid me with parts for a 27. 42BB-8779-4BD22ADB547A.png[/attachment]
I rounded up enough parts to make a car and drove the wheels off the 27 as a kid. I bought the 13 in the early 90s and still have both and a few more. This brings us to the story about the one that got away. A rancher in Crowell also owned a ranch in Montana. On the ranch there was a copper mine and in the mine he said there was a brass radiator T that didn’t have front doors. He said the T was in pretty good shape and he felt it was solid enough make the trip to Texas on a trailer and best of all I could have it for free. The only problem was the trip to Montana $$. My dad a I never did make the trip, still think about that automobile. Please share your thoughts on the ones you missed.

Re: The one that got away
In the late 60's I discovered a TT in shed at Cockatoo Valley. It was one of the last, having the heavy 20" front wheels, the same as the rears. It had not done a lot of hard work, came with a full set of side boards, all mounted on a neat custom built traytop. When I was told of it, I was rather excited.
When I got to see it I was disappointed. Who wants a slow old truck?

Re: The one that got away
When I had turned 16 I wanted a car like everybody else did. A mile or two down the road from us there was the local country junk yard or salvage yard where the owner was a salvager and would clean up property. He amassed lots of old cars and the one I wanted was a 34 Ford with the suicide doors. It was a flathead v8 standard. He wanted 60.00 for it but my Father wouldn’t let me buy it! For me that’s the one that got away and there was also a 39 Ford and then the 56 Crown Victoria for 750.00 but those came along about a year later. I finally wound up with a 56 Ford 4dr. I bought for 150.00. Oh well—.

Re: The one that got away
I was 11 years old when I went to the MTFCI Clear Lake, IA tour, and for my first time saw a loud, low, fast, red boattail speedster.
I fell in love with that car and have wanted one ever since.
In 2013, the car was listed for sale in the MTFCI magazine. I couldn't take off work, and was arranging to go over the weekend 800+ miles to buy it. That Thursday, I received a call that it had sold.
I have been wanting to find out where it went ever since.
Been dreaming of a loud, low, fast, red boattail for 27 years now... if anyone knows where it is (Sold in North Carolina in 2013) I'd sure like to have another chance at it!
