Re: MOdel F 2 piece Timer
On the Model T two piece timer the drive is from the camshaft and the body of the timer is held in place by the nut on the end of the camshaft. Thus the two screws that hold on the cover have to be from the front of the timer.
There is no way the device shown with the screws at the rear, will fit a Model T.

I have one. The two screws thaT HOLD THE COVER ARE ON THE FRONT. This timer is the same as the Ford timer except for the cover. I have a Ford cover on mine.

Re: MOdel F 2 piece Timer
There were many companies making these in the later part of the first decade. It looks like it would be very appropriate for many makes of 4 cylinder cars of that era. Even a larger company like ford was buying different makes from suppliers. I think the model N was probably the first Ford to have a dedicated timer supplied. The 2 cylinder fords are usually seen with many different timers. Benford is one branded type you might see more ( no connection to ford)

The brass body measures the same as a regular Two piece timer. Not sure about the cover mounting holes drilled out into the inside ring.

Re: MOdel F 2 piece Timer
Screws are too short wrong size (too big maybe), the thread is stripped out where they pass thru the insulating ring. ?

Re: MOdel F 2 piece Timer
You probably know this but there is no way that timer will run. The race has been turned so much that the one mounting screw is exposed. Not only will the firing be affected by the roller contacting the screw, but the fact that only one screw is exposed sugests the turning was not concentric to the body of the timer. A new race and contacts can be made if you have machining skills or you can substitute the race from a later timer making some modifications.

Re: MOdel F 2 piece Timer
I know this timer will not work as is. The brass body of the timer looks like the Ford timer. At first I thought the aluminum cover was homemade until I saw the writing on it.
So, I have found out the screws are too short and are supposed to come through the timer from the rear and the timer insulating ring is supposed to be threaded. This means the timer cover is held on with nuts?
Now, has anyone tried a later timer insulating ring with terminals that will work with the two piece timer? There has to be a way to rebuild these timers and keep them from going in the junk pile.
I looked at a USA made Anderson timer but it is a bit small on the OD. There is probably not anything that will be a direct replacement.
I am not much of a machinist.

Re: MOdel F 2 piece Timer
Robbie, it has value to someone that likes original stuff. I’d say about $100 from my experience. Also need to say, it needs $300 worth of work to make it a $250 timer. To a lot of guys , that doesn’t matter, they like working on stuff like that. Good luck, nice find.

Tim,
It’s not for sale. I may end up having to use part of it. I just have never seen one and was trying to find out a little bit about it.
