FJ - 1912 Crow Elkhart sells at Bonham Amelia Island Auction

Post by FreighTer Jim » Fri Mar 08, 2019 3:51 am

I tried last year to help Lee in Oklahoma City sell his 1912 Crow Elkhart.

I had picked up an early Buick he had sold on the HCCA Classifieds and visited
with him awhile when I came to pick it up.

After I left - Lee called me and asked if I could help him sell a Model T Touring
that I had viewed along with the Crow Elkhart.

His health was declining and he was being proactive in finding new homes
for the cars in his collection ( which I greatly admired ).

He did not want to deal with potential buyers because of his health
so he asked me for help - I put an ad in the MTFCA forum classifieds
to help him out - I do this on occasion to help folks out - I refuse any
compensation.

I asked Lee if I could research the Crow Elkhart and tell it’s story
because Lee had bought it for his wife after she became enamored
with it during a visit to a small private museum - at this time it was not for sale

I delved into the history of the car which had a fascinating story.

I started a thread on the forum about it last year:

Later on - Lee decided to sell the Crow Elkhart and asked me if I would help.

I eventually found what appeared to be a good home
at the NATMUS Museum In Auburn, Indiana - but Lee declined their offer.

It has found a new home ...

Lee is still among us - I talked with him a couple days ago - he was at Amelia Island
for the Bonham Auction.
