Well finally got my new shop leak free. Rich and I brought Nuthin’ Special back to its new home. Now Carston, Rich and I can get it ready to tour this season. We are talking about doing a run up to Timberline lodge on Mount Hood this summer.

I drove up to the lodge on Mount Hood back in 1976 when I was up in McMinnville with the company I worked for at the time. If I remember right it was in June and there was still quite a bit of snow. Beautiful place. Seems like it would be much more fun in a Model T then in the car we had rented.

so we took nuthin’ Special to the pinewood derby today. Found out I have a warped exhaust manifold. No matter how I put it on it would not line up. Anyone have a good straight exaust manifold?

Also going to I stall a new hi flow intake manifold I got from Clayton and a straight exhaust manifold Donnie brown gave Carston and I to fix the exhaust leak. Come on up lots to do not enough time.

George sorry for no updates for so long. We had to move our shop and my new building I put up at my friend Ed’s place leaked like a sieve. So now I am starting in on stuf again.thanks for following along and look for more updates soon.

Hi Tim. Love that car. I’m building a similar speedster A real cutdown, no body etc.
Do you have any write up about the build on that car?
Oh and nuthin special is awesome too @powerwagonmaniac1

Daniel,
I actually bought the car like that. it is roughly a 6" drop. the cut was made on the frame right by the fuel tank. I would not recommend dropping that low. The oil drain plug will scrape a speed bump. My opinion is 3 - 4" drop would be plenty. Front end is a suicide style. I will be happy to answer any further questions if you have some.

Tim

Thanks Tim
Mines not going o be that low. I’m using the Z brackets from eBay, on the back
And the front is lowered a la Claytons style tha he and Chris used on the Becker special
I have one more question. Do You know the seats that are used on your car?
They look like a dirt track race car seat or something?

Here’s a pic of my front end Still got a ways to go

I’ll get some more pics tomorrow. Only the front half is together. I just finished rebuilding the rear from a bunch of parts from different rears. Lol. It’s ready to go in the car but my OT Oldsmobile needs the heads redone and that job got moved to the front burner so the T is back burnered It’s how it goes sometimes

Is the big cable coming from the timer a mechanical tachometer ?

I wish that was a mechanical tachometer... it’s actually thewires coming to the coil from a aftermarket timer similar to a new day timer. Carston and I worked on tying the wiring harness up some more. Tired of it being in the way. Need to lengthen a few wires toget it totuckunder the dash better. A friend of ours is going to help us make a nice set of floor boards. Took Nuthin’ Special for a drive today & topped out a 47 mph...!! Thanks Donnie Brown and Clayton Paddison for the cool exhaust manifold And the High flow intake manifold. Donnie as soon as we can get sometime when we are not so freakin’ busy I will post some driving pictures. Hopefully with Rich, Tim,and Clayton joining along in the fun!

Last time Rich and I worked on it we did a compression check. We found 1,2, & 4 were consistent but #3 was considerably lower. Put some oil in and did a wet check on 3 and it was about the same as the others, compression wise. We are thinking it needs a ring job. Are there oversized rings out there for .005 oversized cast iron pistons?
