Something we still see on speedsters today. The hood is fastened down with a strap. They must have gone so fast the hoods flew off!

Same angle of photography, same driver but, judging by condition of speedster; looks like a before-and-after event.

Looks like he has aged a little also.

It's always nice to see those accessory Radiators. It's maybe a Lawco like this or a Paco.

I'm not sure how much he has aged, but the season is different. First one is cold weather and he has a hat and coat and gloves on. The second one he is dressed for warm weather and the car looks quite dirty. So he must be driving it more often without washing it.

Horn is relocated and a windshield filler block has been added in the 2nd photo.

I have seen the later picture a few times before, and think I have a copy of it on my computer. The earlier version, I do not think I have seen before? However, having closely studied more than a thousand speedster pictures over the past decade or so, I can never be sure I have never seen it?
It certainly looks like the same man and his machine, just a few years apart. But it can't be too many years apart. The speedster appears to be 1915 or 1916 based chassis, and the car could have been built any time after early 1915. The cars in the background look to be mid to late 1910s in the later photo. Likely only about four years or less between the two pictures.
The people and times depicted in these photos are also so interesting. One should wonder about the people, their lives at the time. It crosses my mind, that the first photo was quite likely taken before the USA got directly involved in the European war. Could the second photo have been taken after the fellow's return home?
Things to think about.

Second photo is certainly later. The car is weathered, the driver has aged, and the rear fenders have been replaced.

Fenders 1913 1914 rear fenders 1314/1516 is what it looks like to me.

That got screwed up. Front fenders 13/14. Rear fenders 13/14 first photo 15/16 second photo.

I don't see any dog in the first one, but he has a dog in the second picture. Good eyes. The fenders have been replaced.
