Hey guys, I have a person selling 26-27 wire wheels and I am not sure what a good price for 5 would be? If they are clan and painted- what is fair?

Thanks,
Jim

Usually about $100 each for a set of 4. About another $200 for the hubs. The hubs are hard to find and only used on those two years and then only on the ones with wire wheels. Unfortunately, many people use these wheels and hubs on other year cars and speedsters so they are expensive.

$100 to $125 would be ball park for wheels, but more like $400-$800+/- "GOOD" for hubs. If you look on ebay. make sure the ones you are looking at are true 26-27 hubs and not converted early hubs.

Most wheels I have seen for sale are not tried for trueness. They wobble and will have to be straightened. Just ask any flebay seller if he has check his wheels on a hub to see if they run true.

I agree with what was said above with a bit of further information. I suggest turning each wire wheel while holding it to see if you can hear rust moving around inside of the beads. Also look for flat spots on the outside edges of the wheels indicating that the wheel was run with flat or no tires. I've seen some like that and would avoid them. Also, good hubs sell for about $100.00 each. On the front hubs, look for cracks around the lug bolt holes and other places too.

The front hubs are noted for cracking, and having the bearing race mounting area wallowed out so the race won't stay in. The rear seal area can be worn out too. Also check the lug holes in the wheels to see about wear from being run loose on the hubs. Lug nuts are kinda pricy, as are hubcaps.
