Cowl Mounting - Need Help
I need help in clarifying the mounting of the cowl to the sides of the body on my 1924 Touring Car. Attached are photos of the Driver side and Passenger side cowl mounting holes. They are above where the two Stanchion Bolts go and coincide with a projection protruding from the sides of the body. My question is what size screws or bolts are used here, is it the two screws with the oblong nuts as shown in photo 3? or did Henry use something smaller?

Your pictures don't make sense.
Here's how the stanchions are mounted. The bottom two carriage bolts go through the wooden infrastructure and the flat head screw goes into the instrument panel with the large bolt behind it through the TOP hole.
The cowl is actually attached to a metal bracket via a rivet, and the bracket is screwed into the wood infrastructure.

I knew I saw the info someplace. I looked at my March 1925, but it did not use the parts you are asking about.

Re: Cowl Mounting - Need Help
Will, is that a pic of a 1924? The bracket on mine is fastened to the side of the body not the wood frame, if I am not mistaken, it is integral with the side body metal. I am thinking that the hole above the Stanchion bolt holes is to accommodate a bolt going through that bracket as it lines up perfectly with the hole in the bracket. Perhaps they were riveted at some point later on, but if they were riveted, how would you paint the underside of the side of the body which is overlapped by the cowl?

The over lap like some other areas on the T body were never painted.

The pictures posted above with the oval slotted screws are correct. Please look at the link above that I posted several months ago on the same subject.

The body on my car is a 24. The running gear is a 25, and as such the car is titled as a 25

The cowl is riveted to the bracket that screws to the wood. I cannot tear it apart to show you, just take my word for it.SurveyKing wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:10 pmWill, is that a pic of a 1924? Looking at this photograph, you can see how the bracket on a 24 body is attached to the wood. At the point where the instrument panel and cowl and bracket meet, is where the rivet is located.
