Galvanizing split rims

Got the pictured split rims back from Duncan Galvanizing in Everett MA. Will order tubes/tires this afternoon in hopes to get the 26 running by the end of the month.

They look great. How do they price them, by the rim? Do they have a minimum?

Jeff there is a $500.00 minimum as long as weight is under 1000 lbs, my rims were a whopping 120 lbs. These guys were great to work with dropped them off last friday and picked them up this a.m.

This was a "win win" as Night shift brewing is right next door.

Tires and tubes ordered from Universal, the only bummer is no rubber stem tubes available for several months and had to spend my gas money on the available nickel stem tubes.

Are these for the later 26/27 car? I was just at Universal this AM, and purchased four T-driver 30x3 1/2 for my 15 with later demountable rims. They have rubber stem tubes on stock but they and just about every other vendor in the US are out of the metal stem tubes.

Those would clinchers, not the 21" balloon tires that go on split rims.

I did blast them before dropping off, gave my Quincy one hell of a work out. Could just get 2 rims done before my exhaust filter needed to be vacuumed out.

Yes, have been looking for 21" rubber stem tubes for months and could be the end of summer before we see them again :(

I posted on another of Ignatio's threads that a better process for treating rims with moving parts/clips is electro plated zinc. It is likely to be the original process used. Something in the electro plating process sees the interface between parts acting as a resistance to that plating, leaving the joint free of plating and still free to move. Electro plated zinc is a thinner, less durable coating, but it is smoother and less troublesome to work with if there are parts which need to be able to move. It is also easy to touch up/refresh with aluminised paint.
I am somewhat staggered that your and Ignatio's galvanisers did not tell you what might happen with hot dip plating on such rims with clips that need to work.
