Canadian Model T Coupe Body

Hi!

I'm new to the Model T hobby, but I recently got a partially complete car with a coupe body and I'd like to restore it. I'm trying to figure out the year of the body. It looks like its slapped together as the serial number on the frame does not match the # on the engine. I'm thinking its either a '26 or '27 just because of the firewall, but I really don't know. Any help would be appreciated, especially with the year of the body. Thanks!

It's an "Improved" Model alright - 1926 - 1927.

Depending on the 3rd number, being hard to read, if 0 then March 1927, if a 9 then April 1927.

So the body and frame probably belong together so a late production 27.
I get up that way occasionally (my father in law is in Vegrrville) so I could maybe visit!

You can see that it has the improved block in it but an earlier hogs head.

Welcome to the hobby Madison.
We are fortunate to have a strong group of Model T enthusiasts throughout the Province of Alberta.
You can check out the Foothills Model T Ford Club at http://www.foothills-t.club.
There are often parts for sale on that site and a number of swap meets around the Province in normal times.

Madison,
There are three different sizes for the battery cover for the 26-27 coupe.
Yours as seen in photo #2 is about the length of 22-13/16" which means it is the June 1926 to August 1927 variety.

Thanks for the help! I appreciate it! I’ll definitely be checking out the Foothills Model T club. I used to work at Reynolds-AB Museum and I think I helped with a tour for the club one time. This car seems to be a bit of a mix & match. Would it be safe to assume the body belongs with the frame? I’m going to have to do bolt by bolt restoration anyway, it would just be good to date it. Again, thanks for the help!

I have a unrestored early production 26 coupe sitting here.
Post mounted headlights and front license plate under the left headlight.
The engine is a “mishmash” (no surprise)!!
So I can certainly compare details of the body for you

Thanks Les! I’ll definitely be in touch. I think I’m going to assume it matches the frame for now! One time you’re up this way and have some time, let me know and maybe you can stop by. The car is at my parents, just north of Tofield.
