WEDDING DECORATIONS FOR MY T

Post by Paul B » Wed Apr 14, 2021 3:36 pm

HELLO FELLOW CAR LOVERS,
IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I POSTED ON OUR SITE, SO I WANT TO WISH ALL OUR VIEWERS A HAPPY EXODUS FROM THE COVID NIGHTMARE. I HOPE IT'S ALMOST OVER. I HAVE HAD SUCH FINE RESULTS FROM ALL MY POSTINGS, IT IS A PLEASURE TO BE BACK WITH THIS HAPPY ONE.
A WHILE BACK, A VERY FINE WOMAN FRIEND ASKED ME IF I WOULD DRIVE HER & HER GROOM TO & FROM THE CHURCH FOR HER WEDDING. AS I CONSIDER THIS AN HONOR, I WOULD LIKE TO DECORATE MY T WITH SOMETHING REALLY PRETTY FOR THIS OCCASION. I HAVE A 1913 T IN CARMINE RED WHICH WILL REALLY STAND OUT. I KNOW SOME GREAT IDEAS ARE OUT THERE SO, LET THEM FLY!!!! THANKS, PAUL

Don't forget the tin cans on a string. White carnations or white roses. Open weave white afghan on the back seat - ask your wife the correct shape.

Paul, good to hear from you.

I'm interested in this thread too.... I may be tasked to provide transportation for a wedding or two this year. I already thought of the tin cans....it's the other stuff that I'm interested in. My wife asks "What do the brides do about their hair in an open car?"

It is usually the 'getaway car' after the reception so the hair issue isn't as much of a problem.

A few things to consider when ask to provide a car:

Be careful when attaching tin cans to your car they can bounce off and on the road hitting your car and damaging the paint and cause dents.

When attaching flowers or signs etc to your car be careful with the choice of tape it can damage the paint too

Check to see if your insurance will cover you if you accept any type of payment they may consider it a business venture and not insure you if something happens.

Sometimes crape paper is woven through the spokes of the wheels to add color.

I was asked to drive a bride and her father from their home to the church in my touring car. It was a 2 mile ride. She planned to wear a lacey gown and her father a tux. She had never ridden in an early car, so I asked them to do a dry run with me, top down, so that she could see just how getting into and out of the car would be. I also warned her that she might get a spot of oil or grease on her gown if she wasn't careful.

I polished up the brass and the car sparkled. Instead of decorating the car, I put on a light colored duster, cap, goggles and driving gauntlets. The bride and her family were bowled over. The photographer took all sorts of pictures. Most had never seen a car cranked over by hand. By the time we circled the common and arrived at the church we had attracted quite a few onlookers. It was as if we had driven through time.
The bride and her family couldn't have been happier. In other words, the car may be decorative enough on its own. Dressing up and playing chauffeur for them should be fine enough for most.

Don’t use string on the tin cans. It breaks. Use mechanics wire, nice and long so when they bounce the won’t hit your car.

I found these magnetic "Just Married" letters on line. They are individual letters.

Just use Aerosol shaving cream to decorate the car and make signs. white on black looks good. worked for Me in 68 on a 63 olds. tin cans on strings. My Buddies ? tied under the car to the frame so You had to crawl under the car to remove them. one or two cans made it all the way from Houston to the Hotel in San Antonio for a Hemisphere Honey Moon. still married to the same Lady 52 years later and counting.

Shaving Cream is another item that is commonly used to leave prank messages on cars. Dried shaving cream can permanently discolor your paint, however, and should be washed off immediately.

Stay away from shaving cream. Don't ask me how I know.

Likewise for bird droppings.

I used my 1934 Pontiac to drive my bride from the church to our wedding reception.
The car was sold two months later to help put a down payment on our first home when we learned that we were expecting the first of our four children.
We will be married 30 years in July.
