Band detachable ears...

When I took these apart to get re-lined seemed the first pictured narrow band for reverse had the two straight slot ears and the second narrow band for slow speed had the two rivets. Does it matter which narrow band goes on the related drums, any input would be great.

Detachable is detachable. I don't think it matters which kind goes where, except the wide one for the brake, of course.

The band ear goes to driver side of hogs head. Button type ear fits better on earlier hogs heads. With a late cover, it does not matter.

The purpose of the detachable ears was to make it easier to replace the bands when sliding them in place with the ears removed

The detached ear is normally on the driver's side, but it is not a show stopper to have it on the passenger side.
You can remove the reverse band first and then remove the detached ear band by sliding it forward.
You can also remove bands without detachable ears by sliding them forward with the same method.
When replacing the bands in the reverse order, install the brake band and slide it back first.
Then install the other two bands and put the spring and adjustment shaft in the low band first, as that is difficult to work around the passenger side lump inside the cover.
