Stripping wheel paint in the rain.

Son of Bimel viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18136&p=158738&hilit=bimel#p158738 correct Ford wheel is stripped, wire brushed, phosphoric acid metal prepped and about to start painting.

I don't think the paint will stick unless the spokes are completely dry.

Hmmm. Not the way I would do it, but to each his own. Doesn’t look clean enough to hold primer and paint. When I strip to bare metal, the steel is white and bone dry before I brush coat on the red oxide primer and the wood of the spokes are clean, dry and the color of new hickory before I brush on the oil based wood primer.

There is no shortcut when stripping off old paint and preparing the surface for new paint. Stripping wheels, especially, is too much work to have to do it all over due to paint that refuses to stick to a poorly prepared surface. Painting is 99% preparation and 1% application. Jim Patrick
