I need a carb for my 1920 engine.( I do not have a carb for a core). Snyders catalog offers a new holly carb for $272.00 without a core which is about the same price as having one rebuilt. Has anyone had any experience with this carb? I should mention this car will only be used in town not on the highway.

You will be far better served both financially and performance-wise, by purchasing a rebuilt original and paying a core charge if it is required.
You will want to ask the supplier: "Does this rebuild come with a Grose Valve?"
If the answer is "yes" then you want to avoid purchasing that particular rebuild. Grose Valves only work reliably in modern automobiles which have a fuel pump. They are quite problematic with a gravity-feed fuel system.

I have seen those being advertised for a while. So does anyone really actually know if the repos are good, so-so or a guess that’s it’s not. And yes I know a good rebuilt original is good also.

Corey usually sells one every week or two. He has an NH in the classified right now. Bruce Compton also sells good carbs.

Thanks for the information from a user of the new carb. I must say say that I am not doubting anyone’s Carb rebuilding work. No way.
I guess it boils down if you want to stay original or not. That’s your business if you want to.
If someone can make a good dependable Carb or whatever that’s a good working copy of an original part that’s a good thing.

Seeing how the new ones are out of stock the whole new vs old rebuilt is immaterial now anyway. But I guess it someone wants to waste extra money on a new one, that for sure is their choice.

I have a couple of Cory Walkers NH rebuilt carbs. No issues and very happy out of the box.
